Margie Foster Lee

Mrs. Lee was born September 22, 1925, in Rains County, Texas to Homer and Prudia Ferris Foster. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, C.W. Ferris, and husband, Ernest M. Lee.

Educated in the Alba public school system in Wood County, Texas, she attended Texas State College for Women, now Texas Woman’s University, in Denton, Texas. She graduated in 1946 with a degree in speech and English. She went on to teach at Boles Children’s Home, now part of Arms of Hope.

She was married in 1947 in Dallas, Texas to Mr. Ernest M. Lee.

Upon moving to San Antonio, Mrs. Lee taught for 25 years as a hospital-homebound teacher in the Fort Sam Houston ISD.

In her career and in her Bible classes at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ, Mrs. Lee imparted a love of learning to countless students. She remained a voracious reader and had an inquisitive mind until her last days.

Mrs. Lee is survived by her four children: Elizabeth Ann Loyd, son-in-law Gary Loyd, Mary Margaret Harrell, Sarah Jane Oxford, John Edward Lee, and daughter-in-law Emily Lee.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Holly Glasgow (Mike Glasgow), Laura Baker, Chad Harrell (Jessica Harrell), Dr. Robert Oxford (Elizabeth Kohout), Andrew Oxford, Olivia Lee and Evelyn Lee.

Mrs. Lee is also survived by five great grandchildren, Claire and Ford Glasgow, Torrey and Blake Baker, Allen Harrell (Shiann Harrell), and one great-great-grandchild, Aiden Harrell.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary at 1101 McCullough Ave.
