

Margot Martha nee: Bayer Zuelzer passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023, at the age of 95 in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Esslingen, Germany on December 8, 1927, she was the daughter of Mathilde and August Bayer. She attended Tubingen University where she met her husband, Wilhelm Zuelzer, M.D., an Orthopedic Surgeon in the United States Army. Margot enjoyed their travels to different parts of the world. They eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas with their three children.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilhelm A. Zuelzer; daughter, Christina Anne Potter-Cullum. She is survived by her son, Wilhelm A. Zuelzer, Jr. (Helen); daughter, Mary Zuelzer Arambula (Michael); grandchildren, Jessica Arambula, Emily Teitelbaum (Josh), Adam Arambula (Kendra), David Zuelzer (Allison), Katherine Cullum, Alexandra Arambula Wei (Johnny), and Zachary Arambula. She is survived by 7 great grandchildren, Cruz Arambula, Kate Zuelzer, Mia Arambula, Eloise Teitelbaum, Ryan Zuelzer, Samuel Teitelbaum and Lucas Zuelzer.
Margot received her Undergraduate degree from the University of the Incarnate Word, her Masters from Trinity University, and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a woman of strong character who touched many lives with her wisdom and generous spirit. Among her many accomplishments, she served as Director of Child Abuse and Neglect Services at the Community Guidance Center, and later was the Director of Psychology Services and Chief Psychologist at Laurel Ridge Psychiatric Hospital for over 30 years, in addition to maintaining a Private Practice in Clinical Psychology. She focused her skills on the most challenged of us with unparalleled dedication and kindness. She was an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at The Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. She remained dedicated to the education of her students throughout her long career. Along with serving as President of the San Antonio Psychotherapy Association, Chair and Delegate for Affiliate Societies, and Chair and Treasurer for the Southwestern Group Psychotherapy Society she also felt passionate about supporting various organizations within the community including the Texas Cradle Society, San Antonio Crisis Center and Coalition for Children, Youth and Families.
Margot worked long hours, but she never missed her grandchildren's school and sporting events. She loved spending time with her family and friends who were all so important to her throughout her life. Margot enjoyed art, theatre, literature, classical music, travel, good food, family gatherings, Bible Study, and became an avid sports enthusiast. She was known for her generosity and unwavering support for those around her. Margot also loved her cats, Nick, Taffy and Lovey Dovey. She has been a blessing to her family, friends, patients, and community and will be missed.
