Maria del Rosario Granado Aguilar, known affectionately to all as “Chayo", embraced life with the kind of humor and optimism that could light up a room. She was born on November 6, 1958, in the heart of San Antonio, where she also passed away on April 24, 2024. A force of nature, Maria's laughter was contagious, and her generous spirit was a beacon of joy for those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Maria's journey was as colorful and vibrant as her personality. She drew her strength from her beloved family, which included her mother, Marcela G. Granado, her son, Ronald Roy Atteberry III (Kristen), her step-daughters, Anna and Laura Aguilar, her grandchildren: Nathaniel Rollings 26, Anthony Atteberry 23, Andrew Atteberry 23, Arianna Atteberry 21, Paisley Atteberry 5, Desmond Atteberry 4, and Brinley Atteberry 16 months, her great grandchildren: Luna Rollings 11, Ellie Rollings 3, Matteo Atteberry 2, and her siblings: Reinaldo Granado (Melek), Maria Teresa Granado (twin sister), Graciela Fernandez (Moises Jr.), Hector Granado (Maria), Aurora Mendiola (Orlando), and Ricardo Granado (Julie) and twelve nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Aguilar and her father, Reyes Granado. Each member of her family was a thread in the rich tapestry of her life, woven together with stories, love, and of course, laughter.
Maria was the embodiment of the words funny, optimistic, and generous. She had the rare ability to find a silver lining in every cloud, and her laughter often served as a reminder not to take life too seriously. She was the kind of person who could make you feel like the most important person in the world, and her generosity extended far beyond her immediate family.
Maria's legacy is one of joy and resilience. She faced pancreatic cancer with the same courage and humor that characterized her entire life. She was a treasure to her family, a cherished friend to many, and a bright light in the lives of all she touched. As we bid farewell to Maria del Rosario Granado Aguilar, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, and love.
