Maria De Jesus C. "Susie" Elizondo

Susie Cano Elizondo born on March 17, 1919 went to be with our Lord on December 27, 2017. She is preceded in death by parents Mr. Ramon and Mrs. Manuelita Cano and adoring husband of 37 years, Albert H. Elizondo. Susie is survived by her caring daughter, Estella Elizondo Hildebrand and her two devoted sons; Juan Elizondo, wife Sylvia, and Albert Elizondo Jr., wife Irma. Susie leaves behind seven loving grandchildren; David Elizondo, Desiree Elizondo, John Elizondo, Monica Renee Trevino, Albert Elizondo III, Roger Daniel Martinez, Steven Philip Martinez, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, a faithful sister; Rosa Guerra, sister-in law; Olga Perez and brother-in-law John Elizondo. She was the most strong, honest, generous, and genuine of women. Her strength was proven time after time. She survived the loss of her husband, she sent both her sons off to war, and she survived a heart attack at the age of 89, when the doctors would only give her another three months to live. She was definitely the last of her kind. She had a passion for flowers, owning a flower shop where the whole family would lend a hand. She would pass this passion along to her only daughter. Grandma had a love for animals and a good joke. She always owned a bird or a dog or cat, and there was always a funny story about them. She loved making people laugh, often creating her own jokes. And she would let you know when to laugh with a “ya reírte”. Her biggest love was giving and feeding people. She was always making sure to cook more than enough so there was plenty to go around. She was a devoted mother, grandma and great grandmother…and she will be deeply missed by all.

A visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, January 5, 2018 a Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
