Maria Elena G Cancino

Maria Elena G. Cancino, born on March 17, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, to Juan E. Garcia and Sofia G. Garcia, was called home to be with the Lord on March 15, 2025, at the age of 70. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose faith, vibrant spirit, and kind heart touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Maria was known for her deep faith, spending much of her time reading the Bible and reflecting on its teachings. She enjoyed watching novellas and often spent hours at casinos, relishing in the excitement of the games. Her love for life extended to her travels, where she created lasting memories and cherished every adventure. Maria found immense joy in spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren, and one of her greatest pleasures was playing Loteria with them. She also enjoyed socializing with her Red Raider Family, and her loyalty and care for her loved ones were evident in everything she did.

Maria Elena is reunited in heaven with her father, Juan E. Garcia; her mother, Sofia G. Garcia; and her sister, Lucia G. Paredes. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of her loving children, Arthur Cancino III and his wife Ana, Jason G. Cancino and his wife Denise, Eli G. Cancino and his wife Danille, and Tammy Hernandez and her husband Lenard. She is also survived by her siblings, Gloria Niemoller, Josefina G. Faghhi, Antonia G. Cruz, and Juan Garibay Garcia Jr. Maria Elena was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 1 great-grandchild, each of whom will forever carry her love with them, last but not least her cherished fur baby, Chico, who held a special place in her heart.

Maria will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her boundless love for her family, and the joy she brought to every room she entered.

May she rest in peace, forever embraced by the love she so freely gave to all who knew her.

A Visitation for Maria Elena will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM .A Continued Visitation will occur Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237 with Burial to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237. The family of Maria Elena kindly ask everyone to meet at the cemetery after the 2nd Visitation.
