Born on December 5, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, Maria—affectionately known to family and friends as “Marie” and “Lupe”—lived a life defined by kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She had a gentle spirit and a generous heart, always placing the needs of others before her own.
Maria was deeply devoted to her faith in God and her Savior, Jesus Christ. A woman of prayer, she prayed daily not only for her family but also for friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. Her faith guided her life, and her love was felt deeply by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
A devoted mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria found her greatest joy in her family. She lived to serve and help others with compassion, faith, and care—whether through her church, her community, or simply by being there when someone needed comfort. She had a special love for scented candles and a gift for making her home warm and cozy, creating a space where everyone felt safe, welcome, and cared for.
Maria is survived by her loving children, Ernest James Martinez, Christopher Michael Martinez, and Sarah Marie Lopez; her cherished grandchildren, Erika Zaremski, Kayla Morales, Amanda Mosley, Sophia Martinez, and Mila Lopez; and her precious great-grandchildren, Aria Zaremski and Amelia Morales. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Belt and Rosalie Astran.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jaime P. Martinez.
Maria’s memory will live on through the many lives she touched, the love she gave so freely, and her steadfast devotion to her faith and church. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Church, inside the Vada Hagee Prayer Chapel.
