Maria Christina Meade, 62, of San Antonio, Texas, entered into eternal rest on March 24, 2026. Born on June 2, 1963, to Enrique and Noemi Carreon, Maria lived a life marked by warmth, generosity, and a deep devotion to her family, her community, and above all, her faith in God.
Maria served proudly in the United States Army, carrying herself with honor, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility.
After her military service, she earned her associate degree in Health Information from St. Philip’s College and became certified in medical coding. She went on to devote 20 years of service to the Veterans Affairs, where her compassion, diligence, and unwavering commitment touched the lives of countless veterans and their families. Her work was more than a profession—it was an extension of her heart and her desire to serve others.
Maria found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She nurtured her garden with care and expressed her creativity through crochet, knitting, cross stitch, and even building with Legos. She loved puzzles and was especially known for her baking—her cakes, holiday cookies, and sweet treats became cherished traditions for those fortunate enough to receive them. Everything she created carried her unmistakable warmth and love.
Her faith was the quiet strength beneath everything she did. Maria lived with her eyes fixed on eternity, trusting in God’s promises and finding peace in His presence. That faith shaped the way she loved, the way she served, and the way she faced every season of life—with grace, hope, and a steadfast heart.
Maria was preceded in death by her father, Enrique Carreon; her brother, Harold Walker; and her grandparents, Jose Carreon and Guadalupe Sanchez, and Francisco Pesina and Matilde Quintero De Pesina.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James Meade; her children, Ashton Meade, and her son, Aaron Meade, and his wife Brisa; and her cherished grandchildren, Corbin Cano, Liam Meade, and Luca Meade. She is also survived by her mother, Noemi Carreon, and her siblings, Enrique “Beatle” Carreon and Jerry Carreon.
Those who knew Maria will remember her radiant smile, her gentle presence, and the genuine love she extended to everyone she met. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, compassion, and unwavering faith—a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
