

Maria Nora Olivarez, age 92, passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas on Sunday, September 28, 2025. She was born in Mission, Texas on November 5, 1932. Nora was preceded in death by her parents Raul Olivarez and Leonarda Ramirez Olivarez. Throughout her long and full life, she remained deeply devoted to her family, her faith, and her pursuit of knowledge.
A highly educated and accomplished woman, Nora had a deep curiosity about the world that inspired her to travel extensively. Her journeys took her across many countries and cultures, and she cherished every opportunity to learn from the people and places she encountered.
Nora’s career included 20 years teaching at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. Later in life, Nora discovered a passion for art and became a prolific artist. Her creativity reflected her vibrant spirit and her appreciation for the beauty she found both at home and abroad.
She was a proud graduate of Mission High School, Mission, Tx, Class of 1950. Nora was also a lifelong supporter of her alma mater, the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, where she maintained close ties and took great pride in its mission of education and service.
She was known for her intelligence, kindness, and adventurous spirit, as well as her unwavering sense of integrity. Those who knew her will remember her warmth, wisdom, and the grace with which she lived her life.
Nora will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
