Marian and her loving husband Norman Harwell celebrated 33 years of marriage together on November 7, 2011. As a couple, Marian and Norman travelled the globe and lived life to its fullest, enjoying the beautiful things that this world has to offer.
Marian's favorite city was Paris (Rome was a close second) where she enjoyed the beautiful fashion, art, and history.
Marian was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on January 1, 1924. She spent her childhood in Laredo, Texas and loved it there. Her parents, L.A. and Pearl Nordan moved with Marian and her sister Anita Lindsay to San Antonio when she was in high school. She graduated from Saint Mary's Hall and the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority.
Marian was an important member of the San Antonio community and served proudly in many organizations: The Battle of Flowers Association, The Board of Directors of the San Antonio Museum of Art, the San Antonio Junior League, The Southwest Foundation for BioMedical Research, The Charity Ball Association, the McNay Art Museum, The Argyle Club, the San Antonio Country Club, Club Giraud, the Pilon Club, as well as her bridge club, poker club, and garden club.
Marian was a picture of beauty, sophistication and glamour. She had exquisite taste and a true love of the arts. Through the inevitable ups and downs of life, Marian had an inner strength that shone through and allowed her to persevere.
The lessons she learned about life, she lovingly passed on to her family. She was an inspiration and her spirit will remain with us, giving us the courage to live life to its fullest.
Through everything she remained positive, appreciated every bit of what life had to offer while exuding her vibrant, thoughtful and strong character for which she will remain loved and respected for.
Marian will be dearly missed for the witty, passionate, and truly elegant lady that she was.
The family would like to sincerely thank her caregiving staff: Carmen Camacho, Lupita Camacho, Dolores Melgarejo, Pattie Rangel, Camillia Woods, Karen King, Lupe Leal, RN, and Brenda Jaye, RN.
