Ada “Marie” Coleman was born on Dec. 18, 1928, in Raymondville, TX. Raised on a farm, she never shied away from hard work, and she could milk a cow or kill a chicken without hesitation. Her family credits this upbringing with her down-to-earth nature and the sunny, can-do attitude she had up until her death on Feb. 17, 2022. She grew up with four siblings, including two older brothers who taught her how to fish and hunt — two lifelong passions she enjoyed with her husband, children and grandchildren.
She married Samuel Leroy Coleman in 1948. He was a customer in the diner where she worked and quickly fell for her sweetness and natural beauty. While they loved to tease and bicker, their more 60 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, five adored children and lots of fishing. They could often be found hosting family at home, fishing on the coast or taking road trips to see the country.
Marie took deep pride in her role as a homemaker. She kept a spotless home and doted on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was generous with her heart and home, welcoming in family in times of need and loving on the grandchildren and great grandchildren who adored her as much as she adored them. She is remembered for her kindness, compassion and positivity, never dwelling in worry or negative thinking. She loved to root for the Dallas Cowboys, laugh and tease her family, and she was universally beloved by all who knew her.
Marie is survived by her children Carolyn Parell (Joe), Karen Lux (Larry) and Sharon Hrncir (Tim); her sister Nelda Warford; her grandchildren, Sammy Coleman (Kate), Matthew Coleman (Bonita), Cara Hutt (Matt), Shaun Trevino (Carlie), Ryan Trevino (Sally), Leah Johnson (Justin), David Lux, Sarah Wood (Lance) and Alex Hrncir (Laura); and her great grandchildren, Peyton Lux, Steven Uriegas, Nathan Uriegas, Khloe Coleman, Isabella Coleman, Wiley Coleman, Ava Johnson, Harper Johnson, Rogue Trevino, Ridley Trevino, Coleman Hutt, Heath Hutt and Samantha Hutt. She is preceded in death by husband Sam, children Biff Coleman (Suzy) and Linda Trevino (Joe) and grandson Lucas Parell.
A private service will be held with family on Friday, Feb. 25. Marie asked that her ashes be spread along the Texas Coast, a place she loved to visit with her husband and family.
