Marie Therese Cooke went home to her Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2012, in San Antonio. A resident of Shavano Park, she was born in Dublin, Ireland on October 23 to Vincent and Florence Finnegan. She attended school in Ireland and England before moving with her parents to the United States in 1960. She married Paul Cooke in 1963 in San Antonio. Marie successfully originated and implemented a strong educational program for infants and preschool-age children, and was the founder of Luv-N-Care Child Development Centers. She was devoted to fundraising for the Brigidine, Presentation and Holy Spirit Sisters. Her devotion to helping others was unmatched. It was in giving that she received her joy. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her husband, children, and 17 wonderful grandchildren. In addition, she enjoyed the company of her close friends. She approached life with a positive attitude, and was a great problem solver and a selfless and giving individual. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a hot cup of tea every day in spite of the Texas heat. The family would like to say thank you to the doctors and nurses at University Hospital for their dedication and support. A special thank you to Father O'Gorman, St. Gregory's Church and St. Francis of Assisi. Marie was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Paul Mary Joseph Cooke of San Antonio; seven children, Geraldine Marie Lindsey and husband Steven Lee Lindsey of San Antonio; Therese Marie Thompson of Austin; Paul Mary Joseph Cooke Jr. and wife Janie Dunne Cooke of Dallas, Colleen Marie Fisher of Dallas, David Alan Cooke and wife Allyson Siler Cooke of Dallas, Sheila Cooke Page and husband David Michael Page of Austin, and Noelle Marie Cooke of Los Angeles, CA; 17 grandchildren, Hoyt Lee Nichols III and wife Natalie Tippett Nichols, Hayden Ross and Nicolle Marie Lindsey, Hannah Kathryn, Abigail Marie and Christopher Paul Thompson, Paul Mary Joseph III and John Alexander Cooke, Jonathan Duane III, Colton Matthew, Jack William and Aidan Kelly Fisher, Siler Christian and Asher David Cooke, Colin Glenn, Stella Grace and Chloe Annalise Page; two brothers, Paul Vincent Finnegan and wife Suzanne, and Hugh Francis Finnegan and wife Elizabeth; eight nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
