Marie Varga Kleck

Marie Varga Kleck, age 75, of San Antonio, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Kleck. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dr. Henry Kleck; children, Dr. Jeffrey Kleck, Jonathan Kleck, Kristian Kleck and Monique Kleck; and eleven grandchildren.

From her Texas heritage spanning the last two centuries, Marie built on her family's local San Antonio traditions and graduated from Trinity University in the first generation of women to receive that honor. Her journalism degree and love for writing led her into teaching, and later to publish her work. Living, traveling, and raising her family throughout Europe during the Cold War, Marie returned home to be honored by the San Antonio Light Newspaper as the City's Homemaker of the Year and later as one of the City's Outstanding Women in Business.

A Rosary was held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Chapel. A Mass was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 8:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Downtown 623 E. Commerce Street, 78205 or St. Luke's Episcopal School, 15 Saint Lukes Lane, 78209.
