

Marie Amanda (Savage) Pohl was born on November 2, 1946, in Estevan, Saskatchewan Canada.She moved to Oregon as a child. She was a hairdresser for many years in Roseburg, Oregon.While in Oregon, she was active in the community and enjoyed training for dog shows with her pet schnauzer.
In 1987 and 1991, the dream of becoming a mother came true; Her love for her two boys and dedication was evident. She spent many years active in church with Awana, choir, and assisting in many classes.Marie’s role as a supportive military spouse of over 29 years (through many deployments and moves) is another way she showed strength and perseverance as a mother and homemaker. She was awarded the Yellow Rose of Texas, by Governor Abbott, for her contribution to the community.
While in San Antonio, Marie was a longtime active member of Community Bible Church and a faithful friend to all. She also became a dog groomer and passionate dog owner of "King George" the Airedale, while training George for agility. Marie is an avid reader and she never passed up a good garage sale.
Even though the disability of a neurological disease took its toll over the last 8 years, she was always grateful for the many blessings with a cheerful heart. One of her favorite events was going out to restaurants with her friends.
In her later years, due to PSP (progressive supranuclear palsy), she turned her attention to audiobooks and television. Hospice started in May 2022, and she cherished Sue and Stephen Barbettini for their love and special assistance given over the last years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Quallo) and George Savage.
Marie is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert Ken Pohl; sons, Robert Joseph and Joshua Melvin; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Sherwood; her only sister, Alice of Eugene, Oregon; nieces, Amanda Lane and Angela Hamby of Oregon; brother/sister-in-law, Kirk Pohl and JoAnn Pohl of Saint Louis, MO; nieces, Madelyn Pohl and Kathryn Pohl of Saint Louis, MO; father-in-law, Bob (Carolyn) Pohl; and mother-in-law, Sue Dace.
