

Marie Helen was born on June 14, 1925. After graduating from Fox Tech High School at 16, she began her training at Kelly Field for Air Craft Radio Repairman. She was sent to Philadelphia and later to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for more training. She was then sent to Galveston Air Base where she worked until the end of World War II. Marie Helen went to U.T. Austin for two and a half years. She returned to San Antonio and went to Trinity University. She started work for Post Engineers as a chemical water analyst. She continued at various jobs until retirement after forty-two and a half years of civil service.
Always interested in education, she helped many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews to further their education in college.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil G. Sargent; mother, Ruth E. Johnson; sister, Margaret L. Barnes.
Marie Helen is survived by her brother, Cecil Gilbert Pat Sargent; sister, Sylvia R. Moore; sister, Norma L. Benson; brother, Homer E. Sargent.

Marie Helen was very generous and gave to many worthwhile causes including, The Witte Museum, San Antonio Library, Texas Public Radio, The Nature Conservancy, National Parks Conservation, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Metropolitan Opera Fund, and the San Antonio Zoo.
