In 1940 at the age of 18 Mario joined the Navy. After World War II he signed on with the Merchant Marines and continued his service for 48 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Irma C. Gutierrez and grandson, Oscar Rodriguez. Mario is survived by his children; Mario Gutierrez, Jr. and wife Elizabeth, Victor Gutierrez, Alma Gutierrez-Rodriguez, Belinda Gutierrez, and Irma Gutierrez, Jr.; five grandchildren; Jennifer, Bonnie Marie, Victor Gene, Catherine and Alexandria, and one great grandchild; Evalee Anna; and goddaughter, Yvette Marie.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
