Marion Christopher Emmitt, known as "Mama E" to a few, and "Mrs. E" to many, touched lives wherever she went. Mrs. E embodied grace in every form: she was selfless, loving, thoughtful, deeply insightful and always dressed with the highest class and style. She lived life to the fullest until the very end: she still loved to drive her little black Lexus SUV around town for her errands, sit in the front row at church, babysit her great-grandchildren, offer the best listening ear and advice anyone could hope for, enjoy a sunset with her son, travel to her daughter's in Houston, and even blessed her grandchildren with a fun-filled trip to the beach just a month before her passing. Mrs. E never wanted to be a burden to anyone, and the Lord honored her desire to be independent and healthy until she joined Him in her eternal home.
Born and raised in Pickens, South Carolina as Marion Francis Christopher, she was the oldest of three children and graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. She went on to nursing school, where she also graduated number one in her class, then received her Master's degree and became a lieutenant as a nurse in the Army.
She gladly and joyfully laid her career aside, however, when she met her husband, who she lovingly called, "Mr. E." Together, Mr. and Mrs. E raised three children, Harry, Teresa and Robert. They enjoyed living in many parts of the country until his career with Pfizer landed them here in San Antonio, Texas in 1969. After the children were grown, Mrs. E enjoyed teaching children's Sunday School in her church, travelling the world with her husband, and being at every event possible for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. E's marriage exemplified what marriage is meant to be: a loving, honoring and committed relationship under the Lord until death parted them in 1999.
Mrs. E lived on this earth ninety-one years, and though she expressed in her final days how ready she was to go see "the Lord and Mr. E," her family and friends who loved her so dearly could never fully be ready for her to leave.
Mrs. E peacefully joined her Savior, Mr. E (Harry Floyd Emmitt), their oldest son Harry Floyd Emmitt, Jr., her parents and siblings Friday, September 12 at 10:03 in the morning. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Emmitt LaFuze; son, Robert (and wife Julie) Emmitt; grandchildren, Bryan (and wife Jenny) Lee, Christopher (and wife Bre'anna) Emmitt, Heather (and husband Shane) Rogers, William LaFuze, Jonathan (and wife Victoria); great grandchildren, Bridget, Caleb, Daniel, Colton, Hailey, David, Cara and Georgia, as well as many friends who she took in as family of her own.
Mrs. E was special to all her knew her, and those who adored her will feel her absence so deeply.
