

She and her husband Joe moved to Kerrville where they enjoyed retirement for 15 years until his death in 2004. They were married for 65 years. She lived in San Antonio for the last 4 years.
Marjorie passed peacefully into eternal rest at TexSan Heart Hospital in San Antonio on April 4, 2009. She is preceded in death by her parents, Berry Francis Kelley and Ann Lucille Murphy Kelley, her daughter Jo Anne Holmes Fenton and son, Joseph Lee Holmes, Jr.
She is survived by daughter, Sharon Holmes of Houston; daughter Barbara Miller and son-in-law Tom Miller of Lockhart; daughter Janet Sheffey and son-in-law Michael Sheffey of Longwood, Florida; daughter, Dolly Holmes of San Antonio; sister-in-law Krista Holmes of Edinburg; granddaughter, Kelly Elisabeth Fenton and spouse Alan Heptinstall of Fort Worth; grandson Joe and spouse Yalonda Miller of Austin, grandson Travis and spouse Ashley Holmes of Austin; Sarah Miller Zuniga and spouse Steve of Austin; and Casey Lee Sheffey of Longwood, Florida, great grandsons Henry and Simon Holmes of Austin.
Marjorie was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the quintessential homemaker, homeroom mother, Girl Scout Leader and was a lifetime member of the PTA. She was in the group of girls at Edinburg High School that originally formed the Sergeanettes, one of the first drill teams in the United States.
She was a second mother to many of her daughter's friends who will also miss her greatly.
All who had the privilege of knowing her were blessed with her special love, friendship and humor.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Inn at Los Patios, her home since moving to San Antonio who cared for Mama with love as though she were their own.
Our deepest gratitude to Dr. Charles Rabinowitz and his staff at South Texas Cardiovascular and TexSan Heart hospital for the love and care that kept this wonderful lady with us for so many years more than anyone thought medically possible. Your incredible skill, compassion and kindness will always be cherished.
The family will receive visitors at a viewing to be held on Tuesday, April 7th from 6PM to 8PM and a memorial service on Wednesday April 8th at 11AM at Porter Loring Funeral Home, 1101 McCullough Avenue in San Antonio, TX.
Graveside services and burial will be on Thursday, April 9th at 3:30 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Edinburg, TX.
