

He was born on January 3, 1956, in Wichita, Kansas, to Lawrence Eugene Gee and Velma Viola Kersey Gee. Mark attended Wiley Elementary and Liberty Junior High School in Hutchinson, Kansas. In 1970, he moved with his family to San Antonio, Texas, where he attended Douglas MacArthur High School. He later graduated from DeVry University with a degree in Electronic Engineering. Mark worked for A.H. Belo as an Operations Manager for 23 years.
He was known for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor, his deep love for his personal animals, and his strong devotion to his parents. Mark enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, hunting, grilling, attending rodeos, exploring history, sightseeing, and listening to music. He was a highly organized and analytical person—traits he proudly passed on to his children. Mark also took great pride in caring for his mother during the final years of her life.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Eugene Gee; his mother, Velma Viola Gee; and his daughter, Angela Sauer.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie Maloney and Brandon Gee; his sisters, Cheryl Weir and Susan Garrison; and his grandchildren, Ryland Maloney, Camden Maloney, and Bryndlee Maloney.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Gee, Casey Maloney, Ryland Maloney, Mitchell Myers, Gabriel Flores, and Roland Flores.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78266.
