On July 30, 1969, Zulema and Mike Martinez welcomed their new son, Mark Anthony Martinez. When they went home with their new baby, he was welcomed by his two older brothers, Michael and Johnny, and his paternal grandmother, Concepcion Mireles.
In the days that followed, he was introduced to his aunt Mary Louise and his uncle Theodore Solano, along with their children Eva, Ted, and Joe. He soon met his maternal grandparents Marcos and Petra Ramirez, and was surrounded by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Mark Anthony was a proud graduate of Burbank High School, class of 1987. He was a drumline member of the Bulldog Band where he made lifelong friends including Fernando, Ron, and Roy.
Mark was an avid hunter, and the South Texas brush country was where he was the happiest.
At home, Mark mastered the art of barbequing. He cooked many meals for his family and friends that included brisket, chicken, and sausage. Twenty years ago, Mark surprised the family when he purchased a Fat Boy Harley Davidson. He affectionately name his Harley “Marylyn”.
Mark’s career was in the truck accessory business, first with Croft and the past 15 years with Alamo City’s Uresti Camper Sales and Truck Specialties, where he became a part of that business family.
With his family gathered around him on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Mark was reunited with his grandparent and other extended family members.
The family expresses its sincere appreciation to the Neuro ICU staff of St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital.
