'Marlene was a very special woman. She was a good friend to my mother and was always thinking of others. Marlene picked me and my son Alex up from the airport one time. It was the first time I was installing the car seat into a car. It felt like forever and Marlene was laughing as I was ready to break the seat. She turned around and said you think they'd tell you about these things before you think of having kids! I couldn't help but laugh and say no kidding. I think of that and laugh every time I move the car seat from car to car. Marlene touched our lives in many ways and will be missed. She was unselfish and was always there to help others. She will be missed.'

'Ever heard the saying, "That's the kind of person I want to be when I grow up," well Marlene is that person. She just knew when a friend needed quite comfort or a belly laugh and was there. Generous without drawing attention to it, she enriched so many lives. She imparted a sense of acceptance and value no matter the life circumstance in which encountered a person. Her gentleness and kindness will be missed by so many. 
While there will be a spot in my heart that will miss her the rest of my life, there are many that feel healed by what I found in our friendship. Our small group will sorely miss her stories and the way she brought fun to our birthday/holiday/just because we could lunches, so we will raise a glass (or cappuccino) and celebrate that we had the time with her that we did. As we remember the stories, and pause, that will be God's laughter we hear and know what she is doing. To her family, may you find comfort in knowing that the love for her and from her will go on in this world.'
