Marsh was born on November 22, 1938, in the small town of Faith, North Carolina to Harold and Blanch (Robertson) Jones. There he grew up surrounded by extended family and friends. After working in local industry for a couple of years, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, a decision that would shape the rest of his life. After serving in Japan and Germany, he was assigned to Goodfellow AFB, Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Julie. He and his family continued to serve our country through assignments to bases in North Carolina, the Philippines, Georgia and Illinois, all the while advancing in rank and pursuing his college degree in business. In 1978, he retired as a USAF SMSgt after serving 20 years and pursued his Masters Degree in Business Administration. After obtaining his MBA, he entered Civil Service, working for the USAF in increasingly responsible Budget officer positions. In 1984, this work eventually brought him and his family back to San Antonio, Texas, where he retired from Civil Service in 1995.
Throughout all these years, Marsh had one goal—to always provide for his family. He was a dedicated life companion for his wife and a stern, but loving, father to his children. He was a good man, with strong Christian ethics, and was always a strong role model to guide his children through their lives. His four grandchildren were the absolute joys of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Brenda Parks. Marshall is survived by his wife, Julia Ann Jones; daughters, Lori Cammack and Jennifer Crook; son, Richard Jones and wife Christine; grandchildren Ashley, Austin, Matthew and Elena; and his beloved dog, Nancy.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Porter Loring Mortuary North in the chapel.
