Martha Louise Nickerson

Martha Nickerson, 93, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. Born on June 30, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Mary Jane Pearson and Judson J. Jones, Martha attended Kansas State Teachers College (now Emporia State University) and received a bachelors degree in education. Martha taught high school in Kansas and then worked at the Kansas Board of Regents in Topeka. She met her loving and life long husband Ronald in Topeka and was married in Chicago, Illinois in 1956, embarking on a life of service as a United States Air Force wife and mother. Martha and her family lived in Japan, Okinawa, Brazil, Panama, and in several US cities. Above all, Martha had deep love and caring for her family, sons, and grandchildren, and took great joy in the wonderful journies their lives have taken. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister. Martha is survived by her husband, Ronald E. Nickerson; sons, Neal Nickerson and Nathan Nickerson; and grandchildren, Gavin Nickerson, Tyler Nickerson, Maxwell Nickerson, and Sofia Nickerson.

The family will hold a memorial service officiated by Chaplain Hester at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Army Residence Community Chapel, followed by a viewing from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring North Mortuary.

Martha will be interred in a private family ceremony at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on August 2, 2022.
