

Martin P. Bowles, 80, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013. Born in Kilfree, Gurteen, Co. Sligo,Ireland on April 20, 1933 to James and Margaret Hannon Bowles, Martin served in the United States Army and later worked as a bus driver for the City of New York and later for the Northside ISD. He was an active member of The Harp & Shamrock Society and The Irish Cultural Society. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret; sister, Margaret Noone; brothers, Frank of Ireland and Jim and Brian of Manchester, UK. He is survived by his loving wife, Josie; brother, Brendan and wife Irene of Sligo, Ireland; brother-in-law, Michael Noone; sisters-in-law, Pat Bowles, Kathleen Bowles of Manchester and Kay Dublin; niece, Ursula Noone; nephews, Kieran and Sean Noone and numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors and a Special Thank You to Sylvia, Bernadette, Peter, David, Helen, Bernie, Debi, Oscar, Elva Yoli, Linda, Diana, Vicki, Gloria and Sylvia for their thoughtfulness and compassion. A very special thank you to Dr. Colleen Kennedy, Msgr. Patrick Cronin and the nurses and staff at Odyssey Hospice for their devotion and professionalism in caring and administering to Martin. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 7893 Grissom Rd., San Antonio, TX 78251. The visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. The funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 7893 Grissom Rd. with Msgr. Patrick Cronin as celebrant. The interment with military honors will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
