He retired as a police officer in Indiana and was the property room supervisor with the San Antonio Police Department. He served with the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean War.
He was a life member of the VFW and the Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed being with his family and being active with senior bowling leagues.
Martin is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Patricia L. Diedrich; children, Suzanne Johnson, Vicki Gilbert, Steven M. Ferklic, Diana L. Ferklic and Cindy and Joe Diedrich; grandchildren, Chloe M. Gilbert, Audra, Joseph and Nicholas Ferklic; sister, Rose Warner and husband, Myron
