

Martin Reese Harris, age 90 passed away on Thursday evening August 28, 2014 in his home in San Antonio. He was born July 30, 1924 in Mineral Wells, TX, the only son of Milton Reese Harris, a well known pharmacist, and Mae Byrd Harris.
Martin grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1941. After graduating from high school he attended Trinity University, where he was a member of the Varsity Debate Team. He then took some time off from school where he served three years in the Army Air Force as a B-29 pilot, as a Lieutenant. He then attended The University of Texas where he was president of the Chi Phi Fraternity and a member of the Inter-Fraternity Council.
Upon meeting a beautiful blonde while attending college, Martin and Jean Aldred Tyler were married April 14, 1950. They had a son, Marty Harris on August 1, 1951. In that same year, Martin was recalled to Germany where he continued to serve his country. In 1953 he returned to San Antonio to become a CPA and continued to practice until his death.
Besides his family, Martin loved flying and continued to fly until he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard in 1993. He was active in St. Luke's Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry for several years. Later in life, Mr. Harris became very active in his family's ranch, M.A. Tyler Cattle Company in Mc Mullen County. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Tyler Harris; son, Marty Harris and wife, Carol; grandchildren, Sarah Harris, Jason Harris, Blakely Davis, Rebekah Ray and husband, Chance and two great grandsons, Colton and Garrett Ray. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough Ave.
