

Marvin was born in New Orleans, LA into a large and loving family. He was the son of Regina and Sol Belasco. He had a wonderful childhood with his sister, Leah, and many cousins. After high school, he was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Dr. Belasco began his distinguished military career in the U.S. Army, serving with honor during the Vietnam War. Over the course of a combined 20 years in service, Dr. Belasco earned numerous commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, among other distinctions that recognized his leadership, skill, and dedication.
After returning from Vietnam, he was stationed in San Antonio, where he met his wife, Peggy. He transferred to the Air Force and attended medical school at UT Health Science Center San Antonio. After graduating, he had a long career as a radiologist in the Air Force and later joined a private radiology practice in San Antonio. He was known by colleagues and patients alike for his compassion, precision, and professionalism.
Dr. Belasco carried forward the values of service, family, and resilience that were deeply rooted in his upbringing. He was a devoted father to his three children and never missed a chance to support them. He was known for his sense of humor, which he used to lift the spirits of those around him. He enjoyed sports, particularly when it was one of his children or grandchildren playing, Cajun food, and above all else, spending time with his six grandchildren.
He is lovingly remembered by his family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Belasco; son, Bradley Belasco and wife Kathryn Sinclair; daughters, Brooke Hernandez and husband Rick Hernandez, and Jennifer Belasco and husband Devin Peck; sister, Leah Belasco; 6 grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members and all those whose lives he touched as a soldier, a doctor, and a mentor.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the cardiology team at Brooke Army Medical Center, whose care and support helped Dr. Belasco have an extended and more fulfilling life with his family.
He will be buried with honors at Fort Sam National Cemetery on August 5, at 9:15am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
