Marvin E. Bell at the age of 76, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2022, in San Antonio, TX. Born on March 17, 1946, in Big Spring, TX to parents, Mildred E. Lord and Gerald L. Bell.
He proudly served 25 ½ years in the United States Air Force, beginning his service as enlisted and then earning his commission to become an officer. He loved his many travels, getting to see and experience many parts of the world with his family. He was an Irishman, who loved Irish music and was blessed with having a St. Patrick’s Day birthday.
Marvin was a man of faith and integrity, a man’s man. He was a voracious reader; his favorite authors were Tom Clancy and David Baldacci. Marvin loved working with his hands and was an avid airplane modeler as well as collector. If he wasn’t working on an airplane model, he was working on his 1976 BMW 2002, which he loved doing all of his own maintenance and mechanical repairs on. His knowledge of military airplanes was astounding, in fact almost encyclopedic. He could rattle off details about any number of planes like it was written on the back of his hand.
Marvin had a dry sense of humor often with truly comedic timing. He loved listening to his favorite music by The Beach Boys as well as Creedence Clearwater Revival. He was a kind, caring, giving, interested dad, and papa. A very generous friend and helper. A thoughtful loving husband and partner.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Roslyn Haniel Bell; his children Matthew and Ashley; and his granddaughters Avery and Emery.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11:30am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. To view Marvin's service click here.
