

Joyce Barrows, age 94, passed away Tuesday, January 31, in San Antonio. She was born Mary Joyce Helen Miller in San Antonio, Texas to John W. Miller and Tonie Clara DeMuth. Her mother died giving birth, and when her father later remarried Edna Cowan, Joyce gained a sister for life named Virginia (affectionately known as Ginger). From John and Edna's marriage, Joyce gained a brother, John W. Miller Jr. Joyce was a graduate of Brackenridge High School where she was proud to be a member of the Purple Jackets, and a member of the National Honor Society. She married the love of her life, LeVaughn Barrows in 1946, and became the mother of, as she liked to say, “5 perfect sons,” David, Chuck, Robert, Jim, and Rick. Joyce was a devoted wife and mother with a servant's heart and a radiant smile. Everyone who knew her was blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by, husband, LeVaughn; son, Chuck Barrows; great-granddaughter, Rachael Koloroutis; sister, Virginia Huntress; and brother, John W. Miller, Jr. Joyce is survived by sons, David Barrows, Robert Barrows and wife Julie, Jim Barrows and wife Phyl, and Rick Barrows and wife Rose; as well as a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren.
