I am a friend of Mimi Mace, Mary Margaret Compton's daughter and I know how hard this must be for her and the rest of the family. Just know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and I plan to be at Arlington Cemetary tomorrow.

Although I did not get to visit her and her extended family often she always made me feel very welcome and one of the family. When I first moved to California, 25 years ago, I was young and without many friends here. KK was playing in a golf tournament at La Costa Spa and Country Club and Mary called me to invite me to come have dinner with them at the resort. I don't think she had seen me since Keith and Kimberly's wedding years before but she extended the kindness to me. Perhaps it seems like such a simple thing to do but to me, alone in California far away from my family and friends, it meant the world to me. Mary and KK were so gracious that evening. My sympathies go out to all of her family.

To Keith K. Compton and your entire family: May The Power of The Holy Spirit be with you today to comfort you in this great time of loss. My prayer today is this: Dear Lord, please smile graciously upon the soul of Mary Margaret Compton. Bring her to her eternal reward, To be with You in for ever in Heaven. Thank you Dear Lord for guiding her so that she could raise such a wonderful and loving family. Amen

Mary was such a beautiful and thoughtful lady.I just have a cute little story about she and Keith to share with you. From time to time I would run into Mary and Keith,either at the Club, or out and about, and when she saw me, no matter when or where, her face would light up, her smile would broaden, she simply had a gift of making you feel very special. One day I was checking out at Central Market, and I looked over five or six registers and there stood Mary and Keith, checking out as well. They were too far away for me to call to them, and they were focused on their purchases, but my, what a couple! Mary had on a bright red tam, or beret, sitting jauntily on her head, with a lovely bright red coat to match, and the General wore a beautiful blue sweater, and I thought to myself,wow, those two look like they should be in the movies! The perfect grandparents! I watched them until they left the store, conversing, laughing, and still very much in love! It was quite heartwarming! I shall miss Mary very much. She was a jewel herself.

Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and always wondered where you had settled. I lost my mother nine years in December and I know how hard it is to loose a parent. It gets a little easier each day, but there are so many times I just want to call her on the phone. I remember all the wonderful times we had at your house at Offutt and how wonderful your mother was. I will keep all of you in my prayers. I was so sorry to read about your mother in yesterdays paper. I remember with the fondest of memories spending time with you while your family was stationed at Offutt and on our trip to Europe. I know how hard it is to lose a parent and my heart hurts for you and your family. It's been almost 2 years since I lost my Dad and I still grieve so be gentle with yourself, give yourself time and know that there are many friends here in Omaha who are thinking of you and sending love.

What a joy to give you both so often Communion! He who eats my Body abides in Me and I in him AND WILL NEVER DIE! Mary believed this and that is why she would ask me to place hosts in her pix to bring Communion herself to the ailing. She is now thanking God for having given her such a wonderful partner in you!
