Mary Jo Crum

Mary J. Crum, age 81, passed away April 28, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on December 23, 1939 in West Terre Haute, Indiana to Harold and Virginia Hooper. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her sons, Tommy Crum and Joey Crum, sister, Sharon Gladden and is survived by husband, TSgt-USAF Ret Thomas W. Crum; her children, Cathy Zanatta (Randy), Steven Crum, Mindy Boyson (Jason); grandchildren, Khristie Collier, Kelly Stewart, Tommy Crum, Connor Boyson; great-grandchildren, Sarah Caulder and Sean Caulder; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary Jo spent many years travelling the world as a military spouse while raising 5 children. Upon settling in San Antonio she worked as a Northside ISD school bus driver for children with special needs. She loved her job and her students. Mary Jo will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her strength in overcoming obstacles and her creativity. Her talents included sewing, quilting, crocheting, drawing, writing, and gardening.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, with interment at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery

I met Mary Jo in 1984. I had just been hired to work at NISD transportation to drive a bus. Mary Jo was the first person to welcome me and help me out with my first route. We then went on to work at Nelly Reddix Center for special needs kids which she had a lot of compassion for. There we worked as co workers for 25 years and shared many experiences . She will be greatly missed
