Mary Alice De La Garza

Mary Alice De La Garza passed away on September 16, 2009. She was born on July 23, 1921 here in San Antonio, Texas.

Mary Alice and her husband Alex were married for sixty three wonderful years. She lived a full and vivacious life. Throughout her entire life, she was always smiling and could bring out the best in people. She loved whole heartedly and taught everyone around her about compassion and caring for others.

Mary Alice enjoyed fishing, the beach and celebrating numerous special occasions with her family. She was a City Health Nurse and a school nurse for the San Antonio Independent School District for 20 years. She was a member of the San Antonio Conservation Society, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and the Retired School Nurses Association.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alex De La Garza; siblings, Virginia Spencer, Larry Gonzales, and Henry Gonzales; children, Alex Dominic De La Garza and wife, Susan; Charles De La Garza, Beverly Ahr and husband, John; and Alexis Roth. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie De La Garza, Michael Ahr, Gregory Ahr, Jeffrey Ahr, Patrick Ahr, Erica Roth, and Jordan Roth; and her great grandchildren, Zachary Ahr, Dillon Ahr, Bradley Ahr, Jonathan Ahr, and Ethan Ahr.

All of her family loved her dearly as she had loved them. We will all miss her warm personality, infectious laugh, witty charm, and her grace and beauty. She brought joy into so many people's lives and will always be remembered.
