On Sunday, December 23, 2012 we lost the love of our life. She was born October 7, 1942 to Mayfield and Norma Sagebiel Kothmann in Mason, Texas, both preceding her in death. She was a basketball player on the Mason High School Punchers. She attended Texas Lutheran College from 1961 to 1965 majoring in Art & Business. After marrying in 1965 and moving to San Antonio she was active in the Junior League, San Antonio Art League, The Battle of Flowers Association and many other charities. She was a floral designer for Central Market in San Antonio for 13 years until cancer took over in 2010. She married William H. (Pete) Hammond on August 21, 1965 and gave birth to her son William Fields Hammond May 3, 1977. She was a devoted mother and loving and caring wife for 47 years. She made friends everywhere she worked or lived. Her love of flowers was reflected in her loyal following of customers wherever she was employed. She was an excellent cook, graphic artist, seamstress and enjoyed entertaining and trying new dishes. We want to especially thank all of her caring co-workers, many friends and neighbors who were always there for her. We also want to thank Dr. Allyson Harroff and the entire staff at the Cancer Care Center of South Texas for the care and compassion extended to Mary Ann over the last three years. In her memory contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 745 East Mulberry, Ste 100, San Antonio, TX 78212. All services will be private.
