Mary T. “Terry” Hayes was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She was the 3rd of 4 children born to Georges and Yvonne Brossard. She worked for the Canadian government and lived in Ottawa with her first husband John Gregory Milan until he died in 1971.She married her 2nd husband Lt. Colonel Louis Hayes in 1973 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States in February,1977. Terry loved to cook and was an excellent seamstress in her spare time. She and her husband Lou traveled extensively in both the U.S., Canada and Europe visiting family, friends and former co-workers. Upon moving to Air Force Village I in San Antonio, Texas, Terry joined the Village Voices which was a chorale group where she was the youngest member at the time. In all Terry spent 44 years first moving from A.F. Village I to Arnold House and then to Freedom House where she died peacefully at age 99 on January 12, 2025. Terry leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.
A graveside service for Mary will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 9:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
