

Mary Lent Cox Hendricks passed peacefully while holding the hand of her beloved niece, Kerry Lent, early in the morning January 11, 2013. Mary was born September 27, 1912 in Kendall County to Floy Winifred Copenhaver and Ritchey Franz Cox. She was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters, Mildred Agnes Cox and Anna B. (Ann) Cox Skarien and her brother, Lester Ritchey Cox. Mary is survived by three nieces, Mildred Cox Vuris (John), Kerry Lent Skarien Travis (Eddie), and Frances Cox Bleich (Tom); and one nephew Lester Ritchey Cox, Jr. (Sue). She is also survived by five great nieces and one great-nephew and eleven great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mary lived the majority of her long life in San Antonio residing in the home built in 1938 by her father and brother. Her career as a professional secretary in the fields of insurance and publications was recognized in 1950 when Mary was elected as an officer of the Anacacho Chapter of the National Secretaries Association. She will be remembered for her caring gentle ways, kindness to all, lively sense of humor, and appreciation for stylish fashion. Mary loved her family beyond measure and they will be comforted by many loving memories in her company.
The family wishes to thank Helen Rodriguez for the compassionate and devoted care and companionship she provided for Mary during the past four years. Staff throughout the Morningside Manor have provided attentive support and care since 1999 when Mary entered their facilities. The diligent care by Vitas Hospice during Mary’s last days was invaluable.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will begin at 2:00PM.
