

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Larry Hill; children, LaToya Cherie Smith and her husband Corey (Pflugerville, Texas), Orenthal “O.J.” Hill and his wife Sue (San Antonio, Texas); stepchildren, Tyra Evans (Sulphur Springs, Texas), Larry Evans and wife NaKesha (Sulphur Springs, Texas); grandchildren, Kyla, Bryon, Jeffrey, Markeisha, DaKeiston and Taja; sisters, Arlene Lewis (Sulphur Springs, Texas), Clarine Moore (Sulphur Springs, Texas) and Claudie Sanders and her husband Paul (Athens, Alabama); brother, Henry Lewis and his wife Debra (Lancaster, Texas); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary meets in Heaven her parents, Arthur Wright and Arbrie Epting Lewis Wright; brothers, Arvie Wright and Harold Wright; sister, baby girl Wright; and brother-in-law, Wayne Moore.
Mary committed her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of Prairie Hill CME Church. She attended school in Sulphur Springs and graduated from Sulphur Springs Senior High School in 1971. After graduation, she worked at Rockwall International and attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, until 1975 when she married Larry Hill and moved to San Antonio, Texas.
After moving to San Antonio, Mary attended San Antonio College where she earned her Associate in Applied Science in Computer Programming (1992). From there she attended the University of the Incarnate Word where she earned her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (2005) and her Master of Arts in Administration, Organizational Development (2010). While earning her degrees, she worked for Valero Energy Corporation for 34 years until she retired. Alongside her professional career she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Southwest Blood and Tissue Center.
Aside from her educational and work accomplishments, Mary was a highly skilled seamstress and loved to knit, crochet, cook and garden. She enjoyed word search puzzles and traveling the world with her daughter. Her laugh was infectious and would brighten the room. She loved planning events that brought family and friends together and had a creative spirit that loved the beauty and elegance of life.
You always knew where you stood with Mary, known for her honesty, she would tell you the truth even when it was difficult to hear. A believer in women empowerment, she was an inspiration to her family, friends, and colleagues. A faithful member of St. Stephens Baptist Church, Mary was a strong woman of faith with a nurturing heart. She always showed up for people, whether it was family, friends, or her community, she always made time for others and she will be dearly missed.
A visitation for Mary will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. The family will be receiving guests Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Stephens Baptist Church, 2011 E Carson, San Antonio, TX 78208, with a funeral service to follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
