Mary Anne Beanland Moses died March 12, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Marfa, Texas, February 7, 1941, to Mary Elizabeth Livingston and Edgar Kenneth Beanland. She graduated Valedictorian in 1959 from Marfa High School, then matriculated at Trinity University. At Trinity, she met James Robert Moses, the love of her life, and married him after graduation in 1963. Mary Anne was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church, served as an elder and also sang in the church choir at Northwood Presbyterian Church and later at Madison Square Presbyterian Church. She served as Moderator of the Mission Presbytery from 1994-1995. Some of her philanthropic efforts included serving on the boards of Southwest Foundation Forum, The House of Neighborly Service, and most recently she was serving on the board at Mo Ranch in Hunt, Texas. Mary Anne worked for A.G. Edwards and Sons for almost 20 years, serving as Senior Vice President. She took great pride in helping many of her clients's achieved their financial goals. The family would like to thank Dennis Kamphoeffner, Carol Pfrommer, and all the A.G. Edwards support staff in San Antonio and St. Louis for their encouragement and support during the last 20 years. Mary Anne was passionate about many areas including music, gardening, fly fishing, and all outdoor activities. Mary Anne loved the Marfa area, the family's ranch and her relative's roots and heritage in the region, which extend back to the 1850s. She was the founder of the ME Ranch Garden club in Marfa, in which the ladies would eat and drink and attempt to plant flowers in top soil which was a quarter of an inch deep. One of Mary Anne's ambitions was to get an oak tree to take root and grow on her Marfa Ranch. She made many attempts, but every time she went to revisit her latest oak tree, something would have eaten it or it had died of thirst. One of Mary Anne's favorite memories concerned the movie "Giant", which was shot in 1956 about a mile outside of Marfa. Mary Anne at that time was a member of the mighty Marfa High School Shorthorn Marching Band. The band appeared in the movie at the funeral of the character played by Sal Mineo. Mary Anne is survived by her husband of 42 years, James Robert "Jimmy" Moses; daughter, Anne Elizabeth Moses; son, John Robert Moses, his wife Keri Mandigo Moses; grandsons, John Robert "Jack" Moses II and Matthew Clark Moses; brother, Edgar Kenneth Beanland and wife, Bodil Jensen Beanland. She is also survived by her dear friends from her college days, the Mo-ers, who met annually at Mo Ranch, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The Moses family wishes especially to thank Dr. Judy Harris, Dr. James White, Dr. Maria Sosa and the staff at CTRC for their kindness and gentle care, as well as the unending and faithful support of friends and family.
