Mary Inez Rea

Mary Inez Rea entered the loving arms of Our Lord on January 05, 2026, at the blessed age of 85. Mary was born in San Antonio, Tx on September 28, 1940, to Hijinio A. and Rafaela B. Cortez. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, great sister, aunt, wonderful grandmother and a loving great-grandmother.

Mary loved cooking, especially her Mole and her cherry-pineapple cheesecake. Mary had a sweet tooth and always made room for dessert. She especially loved her sweetbread and sugar cookies. She was an animal lover with a fondness for Elephants and Tigers. She was a sports fan, loved the Spurs and Cowboys, always watching Sunday football and loved to watch Christmas movies throughout the year.

Mary graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, then studied LVN at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital, downtown San Antonio.

For a few years, she worked as a Merchandise Coordinator at Woolworth and then later worked as the Assistant Manager at Dairy Queen in Dallas Texas in the early 1980’s.

Mary will be reunited in heaven with her husband Mike, father Hijinio, mother Rafaela, along with her brothers Jesse and Roland.

Mary’s memory will forever live in her daughter Michelle and son-in-law Lance, granddaughter Celeste and her three great grandsons, Joshua, Jace and Brandon, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, located at 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237, on January 21, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will be recited at the same venue at 7:00 pm.

A Processional will depart from the funeral home at 9:30 for the Mass of The Resurrection that will take place on January 22, 2026, at 10:00 am at San Juan De Los Lagos Parish, located at 3231 El Paso St, San Antonio, TX 78207.
