Mary was known for her calm demeanor and gracefulness, no matter the circumstance or challenge before her—traits that served her well throughout her life. Along with her late husband, Arturo Villarreal, Mary worked tirelessly in the businesses they started, including a neighborhood grocery store, the A&M Food Market, and La Fuente Party House. Together, Mary and Arturo built not just a business, but a gathering place for friends and neighbors to share and enjoy good times. Thanks to their hard work and kindness, their years of service brought a sense of pride and happiness to their community.
When not working, Mary found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cooking, gardening, and reading. Raising four daughters made cooking a must. She was an enthusiastic gardener who could make anything bloom, and not a day went by without time for reading. She loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas and other destinations. When not traveling, she enjoyed the thrill of shopping. She also shared her husband's love of sports and was an avid fan of both the Cowboys and the Spurs. Of course, she and Arturo always made time for an occasional movie and Mass on Sundays.
Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was happiest when her home was filled with laughter and the aroma of her wonderful cooking. Feeding others was her love language—and no one ever left her table hungry or without feeling cared for. Her warmth made family gatherings and holidays truly special. We are blessed to hold these precious memories.
Mary is survived by her four daughters and their spouses: Sylvia Villarreal-Casas and husband Mike; Diana Villarreal and husband Jesse B. Tellez; Norma Villarreal and husband Kurt Sistrunk; and Lisa Montelongo and husband Rudy. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Dax Armand V. Tellez; Kyle Sistrunk and wife Victoria Morin-Sistrunk; John Arthur Montelongo; Marissa Sistrunk; Claudia Patulea and husband Gregory; and her great-granddaughters, Daniela Sophia Sistrunk and Liliana Marie Patulea. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Her legacy of love, family, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
