She was born in Yadkin County, North Carolina on July 15, 1965, to Thomas and Mary Wooten and grew up in East Bend. She graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1987 with a degree in banking and business management. She had been in San Antonio with Clarke American for the past 11 years where she continued to receive promotions of responsibility and position. She was a vice president of the Contact Service Center for the Clarke American division in San Antonio until her death.
Mary Lynn was proud of where she was from and in hundreds of presentations for Clarke American and many Fortune 500 companies, she started off by saying, 'My name is Mary Lynn Wooten. I am not from Texas but from East Bend, North Carolina.' She never changed and was well received in all her presentations and decisions and therefore continued to receive praise, promotions and respect from her fellow workers. She was proud to let people know that she grew up in East Bend, North Carolina and attended a small rural Methodist Church by the name of Prospect.
Now she is with the Lord. Even though she is no longer with us on earth, we give thanks for the life she lived, for following and living the Ten Commandments, the example and love shown to all she came in contact with and the example of the life she lived.
Mary Lynn was preceded in death by her grandparents, Pride and Lola Wooten and Sherman and Lola Colie; and a very special aunt and friend, Joyce Southard. Surviving are her husband, Robert 'Bob' Sherman of the home; her father and mother, Thomas and Mary C. Wooten of East Bend; her stepchildren, Lauren and Leah Sherman of Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers, Sterling Sharon Wooten of Advance and Eric Wooten of East Bend; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Patricia Sherman of Tampa, Fla.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda Todd Rhodes of Boston, Mass.; sister-in-law Trish Sherman of Boston; three nieces, Jennifer Rhodes, Susan Rhodes and Robin Rhodes of Boston; and a special niece, Sydney Wooten of Advance.
A visitation was held on Saturday, July 22, 2006 with a service on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Prospect Church in East Bend, North Carolina.
