A long-time resident of San Antonio, Max was born in Sherman, Texas into a large and loving family. His parents were Max Patino and Maria Fregroso Patino. Max graduated from high school in Vale South Dakota, and later attended Trinity University. He was a salesman for nearly 50 years, retiring from Stower's Furniture. Max also served customers at Zales, Karotkin's, in his own business at Model Radio Sales & Service, Eagle Furniture, and Todd's/Penner's. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Max enjoyed church and civic involvement. As a young man he was active in the Maya Club and Prospect Hill Triangles, and later in the Holy Name Society, parish activities, parent-teacher organizations, the Altus Air Force Base Alumni and the Jefferson-Monticello Neighborhood Associations. Max built community through his daily neighborhood walks, by hosting neighborhood nights out and spending Halloween on the porch. Most recently, he was a proud resident of the Village at Incarnate Word, creating new friendships through table talk, daily Mass, Bingo, and loteria.
His family is proud that Max was recognized above all things as a gentleman. He led his life with dignity, with courtesy, compassion, and respect for others. Max modeled his faith in his actions.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Pauline O. Patino.
Max is survived by his daughter, Mitzi Eastman and husband, Phillip; his sons, Max F. Patino, Jr. and wife, Doreen; and Mark Patino and wife, Tammie; and his cherished grandchildren: Max, Tori, Crissy, Kati (and husband, Dan Moser), Alex, Ryan, Blaine, and Matthew, great-granddaughter, Lily; his sister-in-law, Consuelo O. Gonzalez, and beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
