Melinda proudly listed her education, travels, hobbies and family business on her autobiographical sketch page shared at our HHS Band Golden Oldies' reunion. But quite obviously her greatest joy and most meaningful "accomplishments" were her precious grandchildren and her children (including musical talents!).

Her influence will surely go on in each of you and in all those whose lives she touched.

I grew up with Melinda's son, Scott. She was always so very kind to me. I will miss her sweet laugh & her wise advice. May God bless you, Melinda, on your journey into Heaven.

I will always remember Melinda's sweet smile and shy gentle spirit.  Our friendship goes back over 50 years to our Brackenridge High School band days.  My thoughts and prayers are for God to bless her loved ones with  peace that goes beyond understanding.

I was privilged to know and love Melinda since 1984 when I first joined Misison Belles.  Some of my fondest memories are of our one silly quartet called Steel Magnolia.  We sang little and laughed alot.  In recent years she was one of the first 4 GNO's (Girls Night Out).  Years of laughter, fun, love and friendship with her, will stay in my heart forever.  I am so happy for her that her pain and suffering is over and she is in the arms of Jesus.  To her Family - May the knowledge that now, once again, she is wonderful and so happy, help you through these trying  times.  DiAnne Ramsbacher-Ross

My most vivid memories are from the HHS Class of 1959 reunion last year.  We exchanged emails and telephone calls to catch up after a 50 year gap.  The day of the reunion we visited HHS and she was very excited as we all were to retrace steps and recall the many happy memories.  A highlight was when the Mighty Owl Band asked us to join them for a picture and then asked us to speak.  Several of us former band members did speak after Melinda jumped out first to share her encouragement.  She was vivacious that day.  However she did so much she was unable to attend the dinner that night and I really regret that.  The picture of her in the Brigadoon annual in her majorette cap is one of my favorites. I will miss her smile.

Perhaps the most memorable thing about Melinda was her laugh!  Even 50 years later, I remember it still, and now she gets to share this gift with other angels.  She has run her race, and now may earthly peace surround those still here who still love her.

To Melinda's family, It makes me very sad to lose another sister Sweet Adeline, I have known Melinda since 1973,we were in Mission Belles together and shared many interesting times. It was such a pleasure to sing with her,be in her home and to see her with her children,I remember when the two younger ones were born,she was a real proud mother. I know she is with the others we have lost and is singing her wonderful Bass part. My prayers to the whole family. Roxy L,Bayer

Cousins…they are a special breed, aren’t they?  

Every time you get together, as children, you are so excited to see each other!  You can play together without arguing as much as you do with your siblings.  Did you ever think about that?  Maybe it’s because you know you don’t have to “live” with them every day.  But I really doubt that you give that any thought.   Cousins are just special.

In the case of Melinda and me….we were always excited to get to be together.  We played jacks, we skipped rope, we roller-skated up and down the street on the sidewalks, and when we went to the dances with my daddy, we learned to do the “cotton-eyed joe”, the “shottische”, the “jitter-bug”, “put your little foot”, and “ten pretty girls”….let’s see, did I leave anything out???  Oh, yes, a Saturday night dance was nothing without the “Her-schmidt”!!  Then, later came the “Hokey Pokey” and the “Bunny Hop”!   I can still see her blonde pony tail and smiling eyes.  

Lots of times we would meet out at Grandma Gregg’s house….sometimes there were family reunions, but many times it was just that we happened to be visiting with Grandma at the same time.  So, Melinda and I ran all over the place exploring, picking wildflowers along the road, playing in Uncle Jerry’s garage or back yard.  Sometimes, if Janice and Anita were home, we would play dress-up with Aunt Alice’s beautiful “roaring twenties” evening gowns!!

We grew up….and apart…..I married and left town….didn’t return until we were both about 30.  It was great to get back together with my precious cousin again…but, of course, things were different.  We both had busy lives with husbands and kids.  But every time I would get together with Melinda, it was like no time had elapsed at all.  

Her mother was like a second mother for me.  And we do have some precious memories!

Melinda, I miss you already.
