Micaela Rodrigues Fuentes

Micaela Rodrigues Fuentes, born on September 29, 1927 in Dallas, TX was called to be with the Lord on August 26, 2017 at the age of 89. Her parents were, father, Aurelio Rodrigues and mother, Josefa Jimenez. She grew up in a rural area around where Toyota Plant is now located. She only had a second grade education because her grandmother who raised her believed that girls did not belong in school. She left the farm to work in downtown San Antonio in various jobs shelling pecans and working in hotel laundries. She also worked many years at Mi Tierra Café. Then she went to work in a print shop and later retired from San Antonio School District as a cafeteria worker. She was a single mom and raised four children in the early fifties and sixties. She did a lot of sacrifices in order for her children to have a good home. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Parish and the Guadalupana Society for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Josefa Luera; sister, Narcissa Gonzales; brother, Sesario Bela. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Estela and James Berardi, Ramon and Alma Fuentes, Santos and Rosendo Blanco, Mary Jane and Efrain Almanza; grandchildren, Leticia, Michael, Avelina, Anna Marie, Crissy, Kevin, Jessica, Efrain IV, Edmund, James Michael and Monique; sister, Janie Arredondo (Tony); brothers,Luther Luera, Lloyd Luera (Idalia); 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She is also survived by one uncle, Miguel Garcia of San Antonio and one aunt, Marta Amesquita from Chicago, Ill; also, many cousins, nieces, nephews and her St. Lawrence family. The Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Procession will depart from the funeral home on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 236 E. Petaluma St. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery No.3.
