Born in Eureka, California on December 22, 1949, Michael was the beloved son of Lois J. Fletcher and Charles E. Anderson. He proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel over a distinguished career marked by leadership, integrity, and service. Following his military retirement, Michael continued to serve in a different capacity—as a university lecturer and professor—sharing his knowledge and experience with future generations.
Michael was a fearless skier, enthusiastic piano student, remarkable cook, gifted woodworker, environmental activist, and community leader. He lived life to the fullest and passed gently and peacefully at University Hospital guided by the voice of his wife.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 39 plus years, Gloria Anderson, a sister, Sharley Washburn, and a legacy of commitment to education, service, and country that will not be forgotten.
Details regarding a celebration of Michael’s life will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
