

Michael Mesod Miran, age 83, passed away on Sunday, May, 9, 2004 in San Antonio, Texas. Michael was born on April 21, 1921 in San Antonio to Louis and Rafaela Miran. He was the fifth of seven children, Estella, Albert, Laurence, Jean, Michael, Faye and Louis.
Michael enlisted in the United States Army on August 1, 1939, and spent the first two years of his enlistment with the 1st Calvary Division. The next four years were with the 3rd Army Headquarters, which was sent to the European Theater of Operations during World War II and commanded by General George Patton. Michael was honorably discharged from the Army on August 9, 1945.
He attended business school and earned a diploma in Accounting and Auditing and thereafter began a career in Insurance Accounting with several local insurance companies. Michael's last employment was with the Insurance Department of Texas as an Insurance Examiner for over 19 years. Michael loved golf and played for many years, but he humorously said he gave up when he no longer could drive the ball 300 yards. He then became a Bridge and 42-Domino player of some skill.
His parents and all of his siblings, with the exception of a sister, Estella Rojas of Houston, Texas preceded him in death. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Vicky, of 60 years; children, Rose Marie Childs and her husband Bill, and Jo Ann Hurst and her husband David; two grandchildren, Steven Childs and Stephani Childs Maher; four nephews and two nieces.
