Michael was born May 15, 1984 in Houston, Texas. Michael moved to North Carolina when he was 4 years old. After being an only child for 7 years, Michael gained brothers and sisters (Clint, Julia “JJ” and Bucky) with the marriage of Vicki and Buck Harris. Growing up Michael played soccer and baseball yet soccer was his favorite. Michael was very skilled in the arts and was constantly drawing and expanding his artistic abilities. Michael especially enjoyed time on the lake (ANY lake!) wakeboarding. Watching him wakeboard was scary and beautiful at the same time! Michael’s energy and passion were palpable and flowed into his love for his friends and family, especially for his son Michael Mac.
Michael’s battle with addiction began at an early age and he fought hard and often against it. Most recently he found San Antonio Recovery Center (SARC). While the battle with addiction was ever present, Michael was on an amazing path. He shared he was as happy as he had ever been and knew he deserved it. He also said if he had known what his life could be, he would have done this a long time ago. Michael worked with others battling addiction and was committed to becoming a licensed drug counselor. Michael began sharing encouragement on TikTok about living a sober life. Family visits became a regular event with Vicki, Buck and Michael Mac. Michael was able to share milestone celebrations with his parents, son and Grandmother. These visits will be cherished forever.
Michael’s family thanks SARC Alumni Association and their program for addiction support. We understand Michael had to do the work yet you provided the format to help him be successful. We are thankful Michael’s struggle is over and he was victorious.
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong firm and steadfast”
