Mickie Sherron Eason was born on the 9th of March 1944 during a wild thunderstorm in Kilgore, Gregg County, Texas to Juanita Elizabeth Melchior and Virgil Alton Eason. Alton was at sea, serving in World War II during this time and thinking that Mickie would be a boy, left the name of Michael Shannon for the baby's name. Juanita came up with Mickie Sherron to better fit her. The name of Michael Shannon was later given by Juanita to a son who had died at birth.
Mickie was taken from the hospital to the home of her paternal grandparents, Virgil Martin Eason and Aurora Ines Westerfield. There she and her mother resided until Alton returned from the war.
Mickie spent most of the next five years with her grandparents because the illnesses of both parents. It was a happy place for her with much love, some correction, and great care. Much of her views came from her grandparents. When she started school, her parents bought a house just across from her grandparents and so the association continued until their deaths. When Mickie was thirteen, her long sought sister, Patricia Elizabeth (Tricia) Eason was born to Mickie's great joy.
Mickie attended Leverett's Chapel school from kindergarten through high school, participating in the band from 6th grade until graduation, serving as a twirler and drum major. She was the valedictorian of her class of twenty-five people and homecoming queen.
Mickie attended Kilgore Jr. College for two years and was a member of the band, where she made many friends. She was named band sweetheart during her freshman year.
In the summer of 1964 Mickie joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Longview, Texas.
Mickie worked for the Bruce McMillan, Jr. Foundation in Overton as a bookkeeper after graduating from Kilgore. It was there that her boss, Mr. Ward, suggested that she apply for college assistance from the foundation. Upon doing so, she was awarded funds to help her complete her college degree. She chose to go to Sam Houston State University, to be close to the love of her life, Pitt, who was nearby at Texas A&M University. She graduated in 1966 with a BBA. She was the first person in her family to graduate from college.
Upon graduation, Pitt and Mickie married and settled in College Station, where Pitt received his master's in engineering, and they learned that their first child was on the way. Mickie worked for the Texas Transportation Institute and taught typing and math at College Station High School for one year.
Pitt and Mickie moved to Dallas, Texas in August 1967 and Chrissy Susanne was born in December of that year.
Pitt joined the church in 1968 and one year later in December 1969, he, Mickie, and Chrissy went to the Mesa, Arizona Temple where they were sealed as a family.
Mark Eason (1970), Summer Dawn (1972), and Wendy Kathleen (1974) quickly joined the family. They moved to Duncanville in 1974 and lived there for seven years before Alison Elaine (1981) was born.
Mickie loved to work on genealogy and Pitt was kind enough to "aid and abet" her in visiting graveyards, old court houses, many relatives, and archives. She experienced interesting spiritual events associated with this work, even miracles. When computers came along the whole process changed from hands on, sometimes dirty work to many hours of research on the computer. This work resulted in numerous records and two compiled books of family history. She enjoyed sewing, hand work, gardening, and painting. She and Pitt were also partners in redoing their homes.
When the temple was built in Dallas, Mickie and Pitt enjoyed attending there and doing the work for their kindred dead. Later, both would become temple workers, and Pitt became a sealer. Mickie remembered that this time was among the happiest times.
When all of their children were gone from home, Pitt and Mickie served a mission in the California San Fernando Mission, working in the mission office. They returned to live in McKinney, Texas in 2004 where Pitt became a patriarch. In 2022, they moved to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to family.
Mickie passed on the morning of December 17, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will forever be in our hearts.
