

She was born on December 24, 1906 in Fort Worth, Texas to Fred and Nena Heard and raised there.
She was married to Hubert Ferguson of Henderson County from 1923 to 1929 and had one daughter, Doris Ann Ferguson Hury.
She was also married to Charles Baker of Athens from 1931 to 1955. Mr. Baker was Superintendent of the Texas Compress and Warehouse Company. They lived in Athens, Chillicothe, Big Spring, and San Antonio.
She assisted Mr. Baker and was very active in church and garden activities during his life, afterwards working at the downtown Baptist Hospital in San Antonio as a night supervisor for many years.
She was a resident of Hollywood Park, north of San Antonio, for 45 years before moving to the Valley in 2001 to be near her grandson.
She was a member of Coker United Methodist Church for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her first husband, Hubert Ferguson; second husband, Charles Baker; son-in-law, Earl Rebman Hury; daughter, Doris Ann Ferguson Hury; granddaughter, D'Ann Elizabeth Hury Johnson; brothers, Alexander Heard, Elmo Heard, Robert Heard, and David Heard; sister, Virgia Lee Heard Evans; brother-in-law, Cletis Evans; and half-brothers, Mitchell Owens and Thomas Owens.
She is survived by her grandson, Charles W. Alice Hury of Edinburg; grandson-in-law, John Johnson of San Antonio; four great grandsons, Phillip Noel Evelyn Hury of San Antonio, Christopher Earl Hury of New York City, New York, Daryl Paul Hury of Austin, and Jordan Alexander Johnson of San Antonio; many nieces and nephews; and others too numerous to mention.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to be sent to Coker Methodist Church, 231 E. North Loop Road, San Antonio, Texas 78216.
