

Milena Poliani Butler, born in Italy on February 23, 1926 to Matevz and Jozefa Poliani, entered rest on May 15, 2012, at the age of 86. Milena met her husband George in Italy during WWII and they married soon after the war. Together they moved to the United States in 1948. Once in San Antonio, she worked as a hostess at the Commander’s Club. She also worked for many years in retail sales at Frost Bros. and later at Dillard’s. She was an excellent cook, and accomplished gardener and spoke six languages. She was preceded in death by her husband George Butler. She is survived by her sister, Maria Poljanec; nieces, Milena Powell and husband Robert and Mirica Cvek and husband Silvo; great-niece, Sabina Castilleja and husband Gary; great, great-nieces and nephews, Kyle, Cody, Zoya and Anya Castlleja; loving friend of over thirty years, Faye E. McCarthy; friend Craig Arthur. Also left to cherish Milena’s memory are numerous other relatives in Slovenia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 12:00pm at Sunset Funeral Chapel. Private entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
