

She was born on June 23, 1921, in Erick Oklahoma, to Garlon and Connie Todd Gallaway. She invited the Lord into her life at a young age and spent the next 80 years walking with him. Many people have been blessed and encouraged by knowing her. She strived for excellence in all that she did.
Monta graduated from Erick High School, Oklahoma in 1938. She received a bachelor in Music Education from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1942. After graduation she enlisted in the Women's Army Corp, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. She met her husband Archie at Ft. Hood, Texas. They were married on July 7, 1946.
After many delightful years of teaching and raising their three sons on Army posts from Taiwan to Germany, they arrived in San Antonio, where Archie retired.
Monta continued to teach 6th grade and study for her Masters in Counseling at Trinity University. After graduating in 1964 she served in the NEISD as an elementary school counselor until her retirement in 1984. She was Past President of Delta Kappa Gamma and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and Tuesday Musical Club. She also served on the Presidents Council for Oklahoma Baptist University Alumni Association.
She was a member of Castle Hills First Baptist Church for 48 years. She served her Lord in many capacities, including Sunday school teacher, choir member, missions committee, WMU leader and pianist for the Senior Adult choir.
Monta is survived by her beloved husband, Archie; three sons Garlon (Alla), Monta (Donna) and Richard; grandchildren, Gene, Greg (Karen), Kevin, Amy, Masha, Todd (Brandy), Jonathan, Kristina, and Katherine Frost; Great-grandchildren; Malachi Franco and Quentin Todd Frost. She is also survived by brother, Dick Todd Gallaway (Janie); nephew, Steven Gallaway (Cheryl); niece, Terri Barber (Daryl) and their son Cameron.
