

Myron James Weare, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, in San Antonio, TX. Born on March 27, 1924, in Omaha, NE, to parents, Frank P. Weare and Erma I. Weare (Nee Ellis). He was preceded in death by, his parents; his first wife Jerry Satterwhite and his wife of 71 years, Marie D. Weare (Nee Donegan); his sisters, Betty Blackburn, Katherine Field, Pauline Grohman; and his brother, Gerald Weare. Myron is survived by his children, Beverly Peters, Margie Weare, Bonny Altamira, Frank M. Weare, Jyme Moore and Irene Overacker (Gene); his sisters, Eleanor Williamson and Fuchsia Reed; his grandchildren, Amanda Wilkinson, David Overacker, Christopher Weare, April Altamira, Sophia Altamira, and Crystal Top Altamira; great-grandchildren Lacee Wilkinson, Codee Wilkinson, Ty Weare, Olivia Overacker, Alexis McDaniel, Allison McDaniel, Jeffrey McDaniel, Giovanni Hernandez and Scarlett Top; great-great grandchild, Ezekiel Wilkinson. Myron attended Ira Ogden Elementary, Washington Irving Junior High and Fox Tech High School. After being trained an Aircraft engine mechanic at Kelly Field, TX, he served with the U.S. Civil Service in England at Station X in support of the Royal Air Force. When England switched to an engine he was not trained for, he sought return to the U.S. by joining the Merchant Marines. He joined the U.S. Army at the beginning of WWII, becoming a paratropper with the 11th Airborne, serving in the Pacific Theatre as a Recon Pathfinder, beginning in the Philippines and ending in Japan after the armistice. Myron did not like the peace time army life but he re-enlisted during the Korean war receiving demolition training at Ft. Cambell, KY. After his discharge, he became a diesel fleet mechanic. Dad was a loving family man. He also loved animals, especially cats. He enjoyed reading and traveling. He enjoyed his daily newspaper, especially the comics. He was a part time rancher but his true love was race cars. An early car was driven by his daughter, Beverly, for 8 years. Later he was a mechanic for other race car owners including Kenneth Neal Sr. and Alton Rousseau Jr.. Myron was a proud member of Anchor Masonic Lodge No. 424 AF & AM for 52 years, and served as Master in 1974-75 and as secretary for 10 years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. There will be a religious service and a Masonic service will follow, both at the mortuary. There will be full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Myron is to be interred with his dad—“bunk with Dad forever.” The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
